Dear Pine Crest School Community,
A clear course was put in place to guide Pine Crest’s 2020-21 academic year: to model all we wish for our students and alumni; to demonstrate resilience and to be bold in advancing our mission; and, to emerge even stronger. And that is how the academic year began.
our students and alumni; to demonstrate resilience and to be bold in advancing our mission; and, to emerge even stronger."
A dear friend shared with me, “You will be defined by how you show up in this moment.” To every member of our Pine Crest community who boldly took action to advance our mission, I am grateful, humbled, and so very proud.
This 2020-21 President’s Report is a celebration of you.
I recently shared with the Board of Trustees the extraordinary impact of philanthropy and how it continues to advance the Pine Crest experience. Much like the future success of our students, the future of Pine Crest School depends on you and the tradition of philanthropy.
Woven throughout this President’s Report are insights from parents whose children joined our classrooms as new students in a most uncommon year. Their perspectives remind us what lies at the heart of our school—all we wish for our children, the love for our teachers, and a true commitment to providing our students with exceptional opportunities that prepare them to transform tomorrow.
Sincerely,
I picked up the children, our son said, 'I had the best day of my life!.' We know we made an excellent decision to join the Pine Crest community."

it all comes together and we know we are part of something big."
Alumni and current students experience the impact gifted by those whose philanthropic support advances the Pine Crest mission. With tuition covering 87% of our annual operating expenses, philanthropy is essential to filling that gap and funding the day-to-day operations. It offers students the full Pine Crest experience.
And philanthropy reaches far beyond the daily operations. It is critical to transformational growth. Throughout our School’s 87-year history, families and individuals have made a priority of building our campuses, ensuring programmatic innovation, expanding opportunities, investing in our teachers, and strengthening our financial sustainability.
Guided by our strategic plan “The Future is Here” and the campus master plan developed by our faculty, we are transforming tomorrow for current students and generations who follow. Fifty-five families stepped forward in 2020-21 to make inspired investments. Gifts and commitments exceeding $12.6 million are making it possible to renovate the Mae McMillan Fine Arts Center and construct the Center for Emergent Leadership. Professional learning experiences will inspire teachers to continuously enhance their curricula. Through gifts to the endowment, our financial sustainability is being strengthened, and family legacies are being created.
Even allowing for inflation, this extraordinary generosity exceeds all seven-figure gifts received collectively in our School’s history. And this is just the beginning of all we are doing to transform tomorrow.
The strategic plan and campus master plan embrace the dreams and vision of our faculty. This is a pivotal time in our history and future. We have the privilege, opportunity, and ability to ensure our students’ and Pine Crest’s success. If you wish to explore standing among those who are creating a transformational future for our School and every student, please contact us. We have so much to share.

Message from the Chair of the Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees is continually amazed at Dr. Dana Markham’s ability to lead at the highest level, to inspire her talented administrative team, and to propel the faculty and staff forward to realize their goals inside and outside the classrooms. She has shown perseverance, grit, and poise during these unprecedented times and it is certainly apparent that her concern for the well-being of this entire community is ALWAYS at the forefront of her mind.
We could not be more proud to serve the Board of Trustees at this pivotal point in our school’s history. With growth on both campuses, solid student enrollment, the most advanced on-campus security measures, and passionate dedication, we will keep Pine Crest on the map of excellence.
Thank you for all you do. Thank you for your philanthropy.
